Three MCCC men’s soccer players earned 1st Team All-Region 19 Division I & II Honors which were announced last week. Sophomore forward Teddy Nkayamani (Cologne, Germany/Gesamtschule Duisburg Mitte) led the Vikings offense with 11 goals in 10 games this season. Sophomore defender Dillon Du Toit (Johannesburg, South Africa/Waterstone College) led the Vikings defense and earned his second All-Region honor, after earning Second Team honors in the 2022 season. Sophomore midfielder Omolemo Matla (Vereeniging, South Africa/Waterstone College) is tied as the team leader in assists, with five on the season along with two goals. Du Toit and Matla are both team captains for the Vikings. Nkamanyi has 14 goals in 12 games this season, which is 22nd best in the nation and has 27 career goals in two seasons. Nkamanyi scored three goals and had one assist in the Region Semifinals and Championship and was named the Region 19 Tournament Offensive MVP. Du Toit was named the Region 19 Tournament Defensive MVP.
The three All-Region sophomores helped lead MCCC to the Region 19 Championship title. The Vikings beat Essex 3-0 in the Semifinal game and beat Massasoit 3-0 in the Championship game. Nkamanyi had three goals and one assist in the two tournament games and was named the Region 19 Tournament Offensive MVP. Du Toit was named the Region 19 Defensive MVP.
Du Toit, Matla and Nkamanyi will lead the Vikings as they travel to the Northeast District Championship vs Schoolcraft College in Michigan with a chance to qualify for the NJCAA Division II National Championship.
