Whitcraft Named Men's Lacrosse Coach

11/07/23

Ben Whitcraft has been named Head Men’s Lacrosse Coach at MCCC. Whitcraft becomes the second coach in program history, taking over for Rob Siris who helped start up the program six years ago.  Whitcraft brings a great deal of coaching experience to MCCC.

Whitcraft has multiple levels of coaching experience including in the collegiate ranks.  Whitcraft spent two years as an Assistant Coach at Hendrix College, one season as Head Coach at Defiance College, three years an Assistant Coach at Mercer University, two years as Assistant Women’s Coach at LaSalle University and four years as Head Boy’s Lacrosse Coach at Delran HS.  Whitcraft has also been coach of multiple travel teams.

Whitcraft has also served as an Assistant Lacrosse Coach at Cherry Hill East and Shawnee High School.  In January 2022, Whitcraft began working as Team Relationship Manager for Victory Event Series.  The Series put together recruiting showcases for lacrosse players.

Whitcraft played lacrosse at Shawnee High School and Marymount University. While at Shawnee High School, Whitcraft was a two-time All-Conference selection and twice named Team Defensive MVP.  Whitcraft was a four year letter winner and All-South Jersey selection his senior year.

Whitcraft set the school record with the 275 groundballs and the single season record, 75 groundballs as a midfielder at Marymount.  Whitcraft was named a Captain his freshman year at Marymount, was Defensive Team MVP in 2006 and 2007 and won the Coaches’ Award in 2005.  While at Marymount, Whitcraft was a member of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee.

Whitcraft wants to build off the success of the young program at MCCC and also has the goal of helping his players go on to play at the next level.  “I’m hoping to enhance each player’s passion for the game of lacrosse and not just for the time they are here, but for years after.”  Whitcraft is also hopeful that the connections he has with many collegiate coaches can help his players continue their careers at four year schools.

Whitcraft has met with returning players and held some practices with the team.  “On a daily basis, I want us to get better every day.  But ultimately my goal is to have MCCC well known in the state and to the lacrosse community.”

Whitcraft is getting settled with the Head Coach role at MCCC and working on continuing to build the program.  The spring lacrosse season will begin in March.  The 2023 men's lacrosse team went 6-5 and won the Region 19 Championship in 2023.
