MCCC men’s basketball will be hosting a special night at its 6:00 PM home basketball game on January 25th vs Raritan Valley CC. The game will be both Cancer Awareness Night and Academic Achievement Night.
For the Cancer Awareness Night, proceeds from admission and donations will benefit Move Over Breast Cancer. Viking Strong T-Shirts will be available to purchase and there will be a few raffle items available. Student Life and Leadership will be at the game and have some giveaways.
Move Over Breast Cancer provides compassionate and non-clinical breast cancer support services and essential programs to your home with a walk-in mobile resource salon and lounge. Move Over Breast Cancer helps women with wigs, head-coverings, breast prostheses, mastectomy bras also offers a support group and events throughout the year to help those or have or had breast cancer.
This night will also recognize the academic achievement of MCCC student athletes in the fall 2023 semester. Student athletes with a GPA of 3.0 or higher earned All-Conference Academic honors and student athletes with a GPA of 3.2 or higher earned All-Region Academic honors. Fifty seven MCCC student athletes earned All-Academic honors for the fall semester.
Seven student athletes earned President’s List honors, earning a perfect 4.0 GPA for the fall 2023 semester. Men’s soccer players Federico Gainotti (Parma, Italy/Giadomenico Romagnosi), Marcin Gniadnik (Piensk, Poland/Braci Sniadeckich), and Naoya Obata (Nishitokyo, Japan/Austin Height International), baseball players Donny Gallagher (Lambertville, NJ/South Hunterdon) and Ryan Ulisse (Columbus, NJ/Holy Cross), women’s soccer player Fiona Madigan (Dublin, Ireland/Fingal Community College) and softball player Isabella Bonacci (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert).
We look forward to a great night to celebrate the academic success of our student athletes and also raise awareness of cancer and support a local organization that helps those affected by breast cancer.
