Student Athlete Technology Majors

January 6th is National Technology Day, a day to celebrate technology and look to the future use of technology. In honor of this day, we will look at our student athletes who are studying in some of the Technology programs that MCCC has to offer.

Sophomore men’s lacrosse goalie Trevor Malik (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) is a Civil Engineering Technology major. Students in the Civil Engineering Technology major will be able to assist engineers in the designs for highways, steel and concrete buildings and bridges; serve as a first-line supervisor at a construction site; inspect highways during construction to ensure compliance; perform construction surveys; test and analyze various construction materials; assist in supplying construction materials and prepare construction and civil engineering drawings.

Sophomore men’s lacrosse player Daniel Lynch (Yardley, PA/Pennsbury) and freshman men’s basketball player Michael Ana (Lagos, Nigeria/Mater Ecclessiase College) are both Electronics Engineering Technology majors. Students in the Electronics Engineering Technology program will learn the fundamentals of AC and DC electricity; master soldering, metalworking, and PC board repair; understand digital and analog circuits and linear integrated circuits; set up and operate modern electronic equipment such as DMM, oscilloscope, and signal generators.

Sophomore softball player Angelina Guida (Monroe, NJ/Monroe Township) is a Computer Information Systems major. The Computer Information Systems program helps students to understand computer information policies; develop and apply network protocols and technology; manage the implementation of a computer information system and design, program, and administer a computer application or website to install and implement computer systems.

Women’s soccer player Annika Maringer (Asperg, Germany/Gymnasium IB Asperg), men’s basketball player Joell Idrovo (Hamilton, NJ/Solebury School) and men’s tennis player Joseph Wong (Lawrence, NJ/Lawrence HS) are Computer Science majors. Students in the Computer Science program will be able to apply the concepts of computation, algorithms, and software design to a specific problem in a variety of fields and provide detailed specifications, analyze problems, and design solutions.

Men’s soccer player Manuel Alonso (A Caruna Spain/IES Rafael Dieste) and women’s soccer player Ana Pacheco (Florinapolis, Brazil) are both Engineering Science majors. Students in the Engineering Science program will be able to analyze engineering drawings, understand scale and orthographic projection; assist engineers and technologists in performing tasks; complete written engineering reports; write computer programs to solve engineering-based problems and complete computer-aided design drawings.

Sophomore men’s soccer player Santiago Oliveros (Bogota, Colombia/Gimnasio Campestre Escalemos) is a Game Design major. Students in the Game Design program will be learn the development of game play; apply the design process to the research and development of professional video game concepts; create structures in the design of video games and levels; describe industry trends and technologies in video gaming; design video game experiences and game mechanics; create diagrams, storyboards, and prototypes to game design concepts; develop games with level editing and scripting tools, and utilize professional 2D digital imaging and 3D modeling and animation software.
