The first day of spring has arrived and so has the peak season for Mercer’s spring sports teams.
MCCC softball, which has gotten off to a 10-0 start begins Region play, facing three Region opponents in March: Lackawanna home on the 22nd, Sussex County CC away on the 25th, CC of Morris away on the 27th, and Del Tech home on the 29th.
In April, the Vikings have five Region games: at Salem on April 5th, home vs CC of Morris on the 8th, at Lackawanna on the 15th, home vs Salem on the 19th and home vs Sussex on the 26th. Last season MCCC softball reached the Region 19 Championship game and advanced to the Atlantic District Championship.
Mercer men’s lacrosse opened their Region play with a 14-5 win vs Del Tech. Remaining games in March include a road trip to New York on the 22nd and 23rd at Mohawk Valley and SUNY Jefferson. The Vikings play another big Region game at Sussex on March 25th. Mercer will play their final five games of the spring season in April: vs College of DuPage on the 1st, home vs Williamson Trade on the 9th, home vs Sussex on the 11th, at Del Tech on the 16th and the regular season finale on the 18th vs CCBC Essex.
Mercer baseball, which is off to an 11-6 start, begins their Region play with two series in March and three in April. Each Region series features three games, one nine inning game on Friday, followed by a doubleheader on Saturday. Region play begins this Friday, the 21st at CC of Morris, followed by a doubleheader home on the 22nd. Mercer will be home vs Sussex County CC on the 28th and away for a doubleheader on the 29th.
In April Mercer will host Del Tech on the 4th and travel there for a doubleheader on the 5th. Mercer is at Lackawanna on the 11th and home for a doubleheader on the 12th. The final Region series is home vs Raritan Valley on the 18th and away for a doubleheader on the 19th. The Vikings won the 2024 Region Championship and will look to repeat this spring and advance to the NJCAA Division II World Series.
MCCC women’s tennis begins play on March 21st in a home match vs Camden CC and will also host RCSJ Gloucester on March 26th. The Vikings will travel to an invitational at USC Sumter on March 28th and 29th. In April, the Vikings will play in four regular season matches: on the 1st home vs Ocean, at Stockton University on the 9th, at Harford CC on the 18th and vs Harford on the 29th. Mercer is looking to compete again at the Division I NJCAA National Tournament, where they had their highest ever finish last spring.
Mercer men’s tennis will open their season with a big Region match home vs RCSJ Gloucester on March 26th. Like the women’s team, the Vikings men’s team will also travel to an invitational at USC Sumter on March 28th and 29th. In April MCCC men’s tennis will play seven matches, including five against Region opponents: home vs Ocean on the 1st and away at OCC on the 24th, at RCSJ Gloucester on the 17th, home vs Brookdale on the 7th and away on the 22nd. The Vikings will host the Region 19 Championship at the Mercer County Park Tennis Center on May 2nd and 3rd. Last spring, Mercer men’s tennis did not field a full scoring squad. With not just a full scoring squad this spring, but a very talented one, MCCC will look to compete for a Region title and a trip to the NJCAA Division III National Championship.
