Women's Soccer Player Mitchell Named GSAC Player of the Week
Sophomore outside defender Sierra Mitchell (Ewing, NJ/Ewing HS) was named the DII Women’s Soccer GSAC (Garden State Athletic Conference) Player of the Week for the week ending October 20th.
Mitchell continues to help anchor a Vikings' defense which has 8 shutouts this season, 8th best in DII soccer. Mitchell's defensive presence helped Mercer limit Ocean CC, who was averaging 3.92 goals per game to just two in the Vikings 2-2 tie Saturday.
Mitchell is a reliable defender, who has a knack for being right where help is needed defensively and can clear the ball ahead to her teammates to help Mercer on the offensive side as well. Head Coach Ron Stinson calls Mitchell one of his hardest workers and most consistent players that he will continue to look to lead the Vikings as they prepare for the Region playoffs.
