This week is Computer Science Education Week. The week began as a way to inspire interest in the Computer Science field among K-12 students. MCCC Athletics is going to use this week to look at our student athletes who are studying Computer Science and highlight this important major.
Computer Science is a field that has increased in importance because it teaches analytical and problem solving skills and is also essentials in today’s job market.
In addition to an Associates in Computer Science, MCCC also offers an Associates in Computer Information Systems and has certificate programs in Data Analytics, Database Administration, and Mobile & Web Computing. Computer Science offers many career options due to the importance of technology in our lives. Possible career options for Computer Science majors include web developers, computer progammers, network administrators, software developers, system analyst, app develpers, and program analysts.
Women’s soccer player Annika Maringer and men’s soccer player Gamby Alou (Lansdale, PA/North Penn) are both Computer Science majors.
Maringer earned 1st Team All-Region 19 honors this fall and led the Vikings in goals scored with seven goals in 11 games. Alou had a very good rookie season, earning GSAC (Garden State Athletic Conference) Player of the Week honors (September 11th-16th) and finishing the season with three goals and two assists.
