New Titles for Cahill and Zegarski in MCCC Athletic Department

MCCC Athletics announced two promotions within their Athletic Department.  Assistant Athletic Director Ryan Zegarski has been named Associate Athlebtic Director and Coordinator of Sports Information and Special Events, Erin Cahill has also been named Senior Women’s Administrator.

 

Zegarski has worked in the Athletic Department at MCCC for 20 years.  Zegarski was hired as Head Softball Coach in 2004 as well as part time Athletic Department staff.  A year later, Zegarski was named Assistant Director of Athletics.  Zegarski was Sports Camp Director at MCCC and involved in Region 19 and GSAC (Garden State Athletic Conference) meetings and conferences and has helped MCCC host numerous Region Tournaments over the years.  Zegarski helped the MCCC Athletic Department continue to operate when John Simone retired this past July until current Athletic Director Eric Grundman was hired in November.  The Associate Athletic Director places Zegarski second in command behind Athletic Director Grundman.

 

Zegarski played baseball at MCCC for two years before transferring and playing two years at Stockon University.  Zegarski recently got his 600th career win as MCCC Softball Coach in the Region 19 Championship vs Del Tech.  Zegarski has helped lead Mercer to the NJCAA World Series three times and coached four All-Americans.

 

Cahill has worked in the MCCC Athletic Department for 15 years.  Cahill has held numerous titles within the Mercer Athletic Department including Administrative Specialist, Department Specialist, Coordinator of the Fitness Center and Swimming Pool and Coordinator of Sports Information and Special Events.  Cahill also coached Women’s Cross Country from 2010-2013 and has served as Strength and Conditioning Coach for men’s and women’s basketball, men’s and women’s soccer and softball. 

 

Cahill attended The College of New Jersey where she was a four year member of the cross country, indoor and outdoor track teams.

 

The SWA (Senior Women’s Administrator) is the highest ranking female in an Athletics Department.  The SWA promotes meaningful representation of women and all student athletes in college sports and also promotes gender equity in all sports.
