Sophomore Bella TrueLove (Hamilton, NJ) of the Mercer County Community College softball team was named to the NJCAA Division 2 All-American first team, the National Junior College Athletic Association announced Tuesday afternoon.
The NJCAA All-American teams are voted on by the respected Division (I, II, III) Softball Committee. The Division II Softball Committee is comprised of representatives from nine regions of the NJCAA. Truelove’s power hitter performance placed her second in country for runs-batted-in (98) and 5th in homeruns (28) nationally.
The outfielder was named NJCAA Region 19 Player of the Year and first team All-Region, leading Region 19 DII softball in homeruns (28), RBI’s (98) and slugging percentage (1.083%).
Truelove is the eleventh Mercer softball player to garner All-American honors and is Coach Ryan Zegarksi’s fourth All-American in his 19 years coaching career at Mercer. Coach Zegarski recognizes Truelove’s hard work preparing for this season, saying that Truelove “definitely deserves this honor and she will be accredited as one of the best players in MCCC softball history”. Turelove leads the Vikings single season in hits, homeruns, RBI’s, and runs scored. Her career RBI’s (141) and homeruns (39) puts her on top of those leader boards.
