Head Coach Elyse Diamond
Women's Soccer

Elyse Diamond joins the athletics staff at MCCC as the new head coach for women's soccer. An MCCC alumna, Diamond's collegiate playing career began in 1981 when women's soccer was a club sport at Mercer. She was the Vikings' leading scorer in her first season with 53 goals and 12 assists and remains MCCC's all-time leading goal scorer with a total of 118. She was inducted into the MCCC Soccer Hall of Fame in 1998.

Diamond was a member of the 1982-83 Eastern Regional Championship women's soccer team and traveled to Denmark, Sweden and Germany to play with the U.S. Select Team that year. In 1983, she was named an All-American and was selected as Female Athlete of the Year by the New Jersey Sportswriters Association in 1983-84.

Diamond was offered a soccer scholarship to attend Rutgers University, where she was the captain of the first Rutgers Women's Varsity Soccer Team.

Diamond's coaching career began at Steinert High School in 1988 as coach for the Spartans' Junior Varsity Team. Her 1988 JV squad finished with a record of 17-2. She was inducted into the Steinert Hall of Fame in 2007.

In 1989, Diamond was named head coach for Girls Varsity Soccer at Nottingham High School. In her very first season with the Northstars, the team finished 15-4-1.Her teams were CVC champs five times ('89,'90, '92, '99 and '05) and Diamond was recognized as Coach of the Year all of those years. During her years of coaching at Nottingham High School, Diamond recorded 230 wins.
