Mercer men's soccer opened the 2017 season with a 3-1 win over Genesee.  Freshman Eichii Yamaguchi (Osaka, Japan) scored two goals and sopohmore Adir Versano (Azor, Israel/Orf Holon) assisted on all three Viking goals.  Freshman Rayan Steglich (Rio de Janiero, Brazil/Centro Educacional Anisio Teixeira) also added a goal in the win.  Sophomore goalkeeper Erick Guimaraes Cavalcante (Belo Horizonte, Brazil/Escola Estradual Lemma BJA) had six saves.   Genesee was ranked third in the NJCAA Division III Preseason Men's Soccer Poll.
