Mercer men's basketball (9-6) opened 2014 with a 62-71 loss to visiting Community College of Rhode Island.  The Vikings were led by freshman David Johnson (Philadelphia, PA/Communications Tech) who had 16 points, 6 rebounds and 6 steals.  Sophomore Kevin Allison (Bordentown, NJ/Florence Twp.) had 12 points and 6 rebounds and sophomore Jonathan Perry (Trenton, NJ/Life Center Academy) added 11 points and 6 rebounds in his Vikings' season debut.  Sophomore Michael Douglas (Robbinsville, NJ/Robbinsville) added 9 points and 6 rebounds and sophomore Makanaki Garcon (Fords, NJ/Woodbridge) had 8 points and 8 rebounds in the loss.
