Mercer baseball (46-12) won their opening game of the NJCAA Division II World Series 8-5 over Phoenix College.  Sophomore Sid Kumar (West Windsor, NJ/West Windsor North) went 2 for 2 with a home run and 3 RBIs and sophomores Gabriel Castillo (Yonkers, NY/HS for Environmental Studies) and Jordan Gonzalez (Manalapan, NJ/Colts Neck) each had a home run and RBI.  Sophomore Nick Dabrio (Jackson, NJ/Jackson Memorial) added an RBI in the win.  Sophomore pitcher Dennis Brady (Vineland, NJ/Buena) had five strikeouts in seven innings in his tenth win of the season and sophomore reliever Matt Chitwood (Miami, FL/Southwest Sr) struck out three in two innings to seal the Vikings win.
