Mercer baseball (27-3) won Game 2 of their doubleheader at Raritan 24-1 in 7 innings. Sophomore Mark Tomei (South Plainfield, NJ/South Plainfield) went 3 for 3 with 4 RBIs and freshman Edward Ashley (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) was 3 for 5 with a home run, 4 runs and 2 RBIs. Sophomore Heath Fillmyer (Roebling, NJ/Florence Twp.) went 2 for 3 with 3 RBIs and freshman Greg Santora (Southampton, NJ/Seneca) had a home run and 2 RBIs in the win. Freshmen CJ Rasile (Pittstown, NJ/North Hunterdon) and Joe Santospago (Doylestown, PA/Archbishop Wood) each went 2 for 2 with 2 RBIs. Freshman Mike Petrizzi (Levittown, PA/Conwell-Egan) had 4 hits, 3 runs and an RBI and freshman Rafael Tous (Ringoes, NJ/Immaculata) was 2 for 4 with an RBI. Five Mercer pitchers: Matt Gall (Shamong, NJ/Seneca), Charles Paul (Burlington, NJ/Holy Cross), Tom Cockill (Flourtown, PA/Lasalle), Kalyb Smith (Levittown, PA, Notre Dame) and John Tartaglia (Hamilton, NJ/Nottingham) combined to limit Raritan to just one hit over 7 innings. |
