Mercer baseball (16-4) beat Borough of Manhattan 11-1 in five innings in Game 1 of a doubleheader.  Sophomore Erik Bowren (Doylestown, PA/Archbishop Wood) was a perfect 4 for 4 with a triple and RBI and sophomore Jordan Gonzalez (Manalapan, NJ/Colts Neck) went 2 for 3 with 2 RBIs and 2 runs.  Sophomore pitcher Mike Novello (Flemington, NJ/Hunterdon Central) struck out five in five innings and sophomore Dan Shane (Perkasie, PA/Pennridge) added 2 RBIs.  Freshman George Curbelo (Miami, FL/Miami Coral Park) went 2 for 3 with a double and RBI and sophomore Anthony Peroni (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) added an RBI in the Game 1 win.
