What is the process at Mercer and after? While attending the Mercer County Community College Architecture program students prepare portfolios of their design and graphic course work for placement when transferring to their choice of School of Architecture. Once the Associates Degree at Mercer is complete you can transfer, with your portfolio, to a accredited 5-year Bachelors and or Masters Degree program. Choosing a school can feel overwhelming so a list is provided. During school or after you graduate you must work in the field under a licensed architect, while completing the required Intern development program (IDP) hours. This process will help to prepare and qualify you for the licensing exam to become an architect. Architects envision, create and modify the spaces within our built environment where we live, work, play, learn, worship, meet, govern, shop and eat in. |
Different design solutions are explored until the program requirements, the client needs and architects vision have a balanced resolution. This is done through research and investigation of many topics that relate to each project, while, staying current with new technologies and design approaches. These are important steps in generating the best response for the design process and solution. Architects are responsible for the health, safety and welfare of the occupant. |
