MCCC Basketball Players Selected for
Post-Season Honors

WEST WINDSOR, N.J. - The excellent seasons of the Mercer County Community College basketball teams are reflected in individual all-star honors, led by freshman forward Alexis Sweet (Trenton, N.J.) being named to both the Region 19 and Garden State Athletic Conference first teams.

The 5-foot-8 Sweet averaged a double-double of points and rebounds for the 21-9 Lady Vikings and ranks in the Top 10 in scoring in National Junior College Athletic Association Division II. Sweet is joined on the GSAC first team by sophomore center Samantha Foley (Hamilton, N.J.). Freshman forward Azaria Crews (Ewing, N.J.) was selected for the second team.

The men's basketball team heads to the NJCAA Division II Championships with two GSAC first team selections, sophomore guard/forward Uros Kovacevic (Montenegro) and sophomore center Paco Boussougou (Gabon). Kovacevic, who leads the Vikings in scoring and is tied for the lead in assists, also is on the Region 19 second team.

Coach Howard Levy's Vikings open play Tuesday, March 16 at the 16-team championship tournament in Danville, Ill., against sixth-seeded Kishwaukee College of Malta, Ill. Tipoff is 7:30 p.m. Eastern.
