The College Board CLEP

Earn credit for what you already know! Save time and money! Fulfill a graduation requirement! Advance to higher-level classes!

What is CLEP?
The College-Level Examination Program (CLEP) is a series of computerized examinations in introductory college subjects that allow individuals to earn college credit for what they already know about the subject regardless of how that knowledge is acquired. Most CLEP exams are 90 minutes long and are administered on computer. Students receive instant score reports following completion of the exam with the exception of the composition exams. Mercer County Community College awards credit for successful scores on CLEP exams.

Registration
Register for the CLEP test here. Go to "create an account" to register and pay online, which will generate a registration ticket. You will need to bring this ticket to your CLEP appointment, available during the following days and times.

Testing Times
Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Saturdays, 9 a.m. to noon (Saturdays until 10 a.m. in the summer).
Call 609-570-3295 or contact us at wwtesting@mccc.edu for an appointment.

Cost
A proctoring fee of $35 for MCCC is expected at the time of your appointment.

Acceptable Photo ID
Two forms of photo ID are required at your appointment. Please consult the CLEP website for acceptable forms of ID. This is very important. The test administration will be blocked unless your IDs are acceptable by CLEP. CLEP requires you to present two types of photo ID from the list -- no other forms of ID will be accepted.

The DSST Program (DANTES)

DSST (DANTES Subject Standardized Tests), a nationally recognized testing program, affords opportunity to receive college credit for learning acquired outside the traditional college classroom.

Subject Standardized Tests to Choose From
You may take these exams based upon what you have learned from your job, your reading, your independent study or special interests you have pursued. There are no prerequisites for taking the DSSTs. You can choose from test titles in the areas of Social Science, Business, Mathematics, Applied Technology, Humanities, and Physical Science. All tests are Internet-based with the exception of the Public Speaking exam. Unfortunately, we are no longer able to administer the Public Speaking exam.
