West Windsor, N.J. – What do you do when you have a question at Mercer County Community College (MCCC)? For many students, they find the nearest help desk, get in line and ask away.
Though the COVID-19 pandemic has curtailed many organizations, including the college, from offering in-person services, Tutoring Services at MCCC is equipped to support student queries from the safety of their homes.
To assist new and continuing students, Tutoring Services staff members John Kashmer and Katie Gyenge are hosting Virtual Front Desk hours every weekday through the summer 2020 semester.
Kashmer, Coordinator of Tutoring Services, said that the virtual info session are set up to help students navigate the processes that can stump them, like figuring out how to make the most of the college’s online tutoring resources.
“Sometimes, students aren’t sure where to start when they need help,” Kashmer said. “These virtual office hours are a way to identify what options are available and to mitigate the frustrations that can accompany the switch to digital learning."
Virtual Front Desk hours are hosted on Zoom, and are held from noon to 1 p.m., Monday through Friday indefinitely. To join the event, visit: https://zoom.us/j/95315622313
Additionally, the MCCC Writing Center is holding its virtual office hours Monday through Friday from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Hosted by Writing Center coordinator Bernard Foyuth, students can get help on their papers, as well as learn about the college’s digitally accessible writing resources.
