WEST WINDSOR – On the heels of a visit from French Ambassador to the U.S. Philippe Étienne to Mercer County Community College (MCCC), the MCCC Foundation has announced “Parisian Soirée” is the theme to the college’s annual spring scholarship celebration on April 17.
“It’s a coincidence, but a nice coincidence,” said MCCC President Dr. Jianping Wang.
Now in its 31st year, MCCC’s annual spring scholarship fundraiser will be held on Friday, April 17, from 6 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. at The Stone Terrace, 2275 Kuser Road in Hamilton, with all proceeds to support student scholarships. Event co-chairs are Nina D. Melker, senior vice president at Berkshire Bank; Peggy Iucolino, assistant director of client and community relations at PNC Bank; and Mercer County Freeholder Pasquale “Pat” Colavita Jr.
Each year the MCCC Foundation awards hundreds of scholarships to high-achieving and financially-eligible students, including non-traditional students, part-time students, and single parents. Many students benefit from endowed or named scholarships established by donors through the Foundation. This year alone, more than $550,000 in direct support will be awarded to MCCC students.
“Today’s college students face significant challenges just to make it to our door, so by helping ease the financial burden, we can reward their hard work and help them succeed,” Wang said. “Through our collective efforts as a community, we have the power to help them realize the dream of a college education.”
This year’s event features a menu of Parisian-inspired fare, including hors d’oeuvres, an open bar, coffee and desserts, live music by Franklin-Alison Music, and a selection of chef’s table experiences. The evening will include an awards presentation honoring community partners for their contributions and service to MCCC, and recognition of one of MCCC’s academic programs for outstanding service to students and the community.
Businesses and community members are invited to participate through corporate sponsorships, digital advertising, and tickets to the event. For more information, visit www.mccc.edu/asc, e-mail foundation@mccc.edu or contact Roxanne List at (609) 570-3616.
