West Windsor, N.J. – What could have been the start to a fledgling men’s basketball season at Mercer County Community College (MCCC) quickly turned into a three-game winning streak behind stellar performances from Vikings guard Tyrae Green.
The freshman strung together three 20-point nights through his first seven games this season, including a 23 point, six-for-six free throw outing against Roxbury Community College to open the year.
Then, on Nov. 26, Green posted a career-high 30 points against Raritan Valley Community College.
“Tyrae has come in and had an immediate positive impact on our program,” said men’s basketball Head Coach Howard Levy. “He is already a terrific player who will be even better as he learns how we like to play.”
Hailing from John Bartram High School in Philadelphia, Green's capable play has also included five rebounds, two assists and a steal per game to start the season.
“Being from Philadelphia I’m used to playing against high level competition,” Green said. “Confidence has never been an issue for me.”
After the Thanksgiving Break, Green and the Vikings will be back in action on Saturday, Dec. 7 against the Community College of Baltimore County Catonsville.
