(INS) Insurance
All Insurance (INS) courses are taught by the American Institute for Chartered Property Casualty Underwriters (AICPCU), with schedules and fees determined by AICPCU. All INS courses are available online and have been approved by the New Jersey Department of Banking and Insurance.
INS 101 - Property and Casualty Prelicensing (3 credits)
Consists of two modules: a property portion and a casualty portion. Upon completion of the course and a passing grade on the Prelicensing Examination, the student will have satisfied the coursework requirement for obtaining a license and may move on to take the New Jersey state insurance licensing exam. 3 lecture hours
INS 121 - Property and Liability Insurance Principles (3 credits)
Introduces students to what insurance is, who provides it, and how it is regulated. Additional topics include measurement of the financial performance of insurers, marketing, underwriting, claims, insurance contracts, property loss and liability loss exposures and policy provisions, and risk management. 3 lecture hours
INS 122 - Personal Insurance (3 credits)
Overview of personal/private insurance products and issues: auto policies, homeowner's insurance, other residential insurance, other personal property and liability insurance, life insurance, and health and disability insurance. Additional topics include insurance and society as well as personal loss exposures and financial planning. 3 lecture hours
INS 123 - Commercial Insurance (3 credits)
Explores insurance products for commercial applications: property, business income, commercial crime, equipment breakdown, commercial general liability, employers' liability, commercial vehicles, business owners, inland and marine properties, farm properties, workers compensation, as well as miscellaneous coverages. 3 lecture hours
