(ARB) Arabic

Note: Students who have taken two or more years of a foreign language, and have done so in the last two years, should begin that language at the 200 level or switch to a new language. If there is doubt, placement will be determined by testing or consultation with the academic division.

ARB 101 - Beginning Arabic I (3 credits)
Introducing modern Arabic, emphasizes the four basic skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Presents basic vocabulary and structure. Additionally, examines Arab culture. 3 lecture hours

ARB 102 - Beginning Arabic II (3 credits)
Prerequisite: ARB 101 with a minimum C grade
Advancement of listening, reading, writing, and speaking skills as well as vocabulary acquisition. Analysis of grammatical structures involves greater attention to dialogue. 3 lecture hours

ARB 201 - Intermediate Arabic I (3 credits)
Prerequisite: ARB 102 with a minimum C grade or permission of instructor
Building on skills acquired in ARB 101 and 102, develops higher levels of listening, reading, writing, and speaking skills with vocabulary expansion, further analysis of grammar, and development of interactive communication. Familiarizes students with the culture of Arabic speaking nations. 3 lecture hours
