ADVANCED IMAGING PROGRAM (CT & MRI)

ENROLLMENT FOR FALL 2020

Mercer County Community College Continuing Studies Department is offering ASRT approved didactic course hours and allotted clinical experience to prepare for the ARRT credentialing exam in the areas of Magnetic Resonance (MRI) and Computed Tomography (CT) programs. Both programs are approved for 42 Continuing Education Credits by the ASRT.

 The program  begins in Fall 2020. Applications are now available and are accepted and reviewed on a first come first serve basis for this program. The program enrollment size is limited.

Magnetic Resonance (MRI)

Prerequisite Requirements: Prospective interns must hold ARRT primary certification in Radiography, Nuclear Medicine, Radiation Therapy, or Sonography.

 Didactic: This course is made up of 42 hours (48 hours for those enrolled in Option 1) of classroom learning which includes instructional videos and demonstrations. 

Clinical: Students must complete all repetitions as required by the ARRT to become eligible to sit for the credentialing exam. Students will have a six-month period complete the required repetitions.

 

MRI: Fall 2020 Semester

OPTION 1: DIDACTIC AND CLINICAL COURSES

Cost: $4,000
Clinical Dates: September 2020 to March 2021
Time period includes a 6-month clinical rotation
(minimum16 hours per week)
Class Day and Time: Saturdays
September - December 2020
8:00am-3:00pm (1 hour lunch)
Total Class Sessions: 8

OPTION 2:  DIDACTIC COURSE

Cost: $2,500
Dates: September to December 2020
Class Day and Time: Saturdays
8:00am-3:00pm (1 hour lunch)
Total Class Sessions: 7

Computed Tomography (CT)

Prerequisite Requirements: Prospective interns must hold ARRT primary certification in Radiography, Nuclear Medicine, Radiation Therapy, or Sonography.

Didactic: This course is made up of 42 hours of (48 hours for those enrolled in Option 1) classroom learning which includes instructional videos and demonstrations.

CLINICAL EDUCATION INTERN REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum of 16 hours per week
  • All interns will be provided with a clinical education handbook outlining the ARRT clinical experience requirements
  • Proof of Health Insurance
  • Medical clearance
  • Current CPR certification
  • Liability Insurance   
  • Criminal Background Check 
  • Clinical Uniforms

  Attendance is mandatory during all scheduled clinical hours. Additional details and information regarding clinical education and requirements will be provided to all interns upon registration.

  • Registration: Upon approval of application and payment.
