Microsoft Office

Update your skills and become more competitive in today's job market with Microsoft Office programs at The Center for Continuing Studies at Mercer. These courses will provide you with the knowledge to confidently work with the office applications that are used consistently within the workplace.  Mercer County Community College offers daytime and evening courses with hands-on instruction for some of the most commonly used Office 2010 applications.

All Microsoft Office courses require some computer literacy and experience.

MS Access™ 2010 I

Recommended:  Basic computer knowledge

Learn how to design and create databases and then how to create, populate and analyze the data. Work with tables, fields, and records; sort and filter data; and create queries, forms, and reports.

Quickstart: MS Office™ 2013

Required:  Experience with MS Operating System

If you are an inexperienced computer user who needs to quickly learn the basic Microsoft Office 2013 skills for everyday life or the workplace, this class is for you! Although introductory in nature, this course provides a solid base to get you started quickly, using the most important elementary features of Word, Excel and PowerPoint to produce documents, spreadsheets and interesting presentations. Topics include integration of the Office applications, learning shortcuts, and how to utilize the features of Office 2013.

Recommended: AMA Finance for Non- Financial Managers or basic understanding of accounting and computer keyboarding skills

A combination of Introduction and Intermediate QuickBooks™, Comprehensive QuickBooks™ features: entering and paying bills, using credit cards/other asset and liability accounts, tracking and paying sales tax, payroll, estimating, time tracking and job costing, and setting up a company in QuickBooks™.

Build upon the skills and concepts learned in Excel 2010 I. Learn how to use multiple worksheets and workbooks efficiently while incorporating more advanced formatting options. Learn how to work with lists and tables while applying advanced charting techniques, worksheet auditing and protection. Workbook is required - available in college bookstore.

Beyond the basics, this course focuses on advanced Excel features that will allow you to thoroughly analyze your data. Topics such as pivot tables, macros and VLOOKUP are explained and demonstrated with examples. Students are given the opportunity to apply these techniques to their own files.
