Bookkeeping & Payroll

Introduction to Bookkeeping  

This basic manual bookkeeping workshop covers the complete accounting cycle from business transactions through book and record entry; account posting; worksheet preparation; and journal entries adjustment. Preparation of financial statements and closing will be addressed as well. This class will prepare students for any accounting or bookkeeping system: manual, one-write or software driven. Topics include: the sales and purchase journals, cash receipts and cash disbursements journal, accounts receivable, inventory and the use of Excel spreadsheets.

Advanced Bookkeeping - Returning soon!

Prerequisite:  Intro to Bookkeeping or equivalent experience

Advanced Bookkeeping revisits topics covered in Introduction to Bookkeeping and covers basic concepts and standards underlying financial accounting systems. Several important concepts will be studied in detail, including: accruals; journal entries; allowances for doubtful debts; entry adjustment; revenue recognition; inventory; fixed assets; depreciation; liabilities; income statements; balance sheets, and cash flow statements - as well as their interpretation. Full-charge bookkeeping will be discussed in preparation for the Certification in Bookkeeping.

Bookkeeping Certification Prep Course                    

Prerequisite: Advanced Bookkeeping or equivalent experience
The entire course is strictly based on the AIPB’s CB Syllabus and revisits the topics covered in Advanced Bookkeeping. Basic concepts and standards underlying financial accounting systems are discussed while several important concepts will be studied and interpreted in detail including: accruals, journal entries, allowances for doubtful debts,entry adjustments, revenue recognition, inventory, fixed assets, depreciation, liabilities, income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow. Advanced Bookkeeping makes learning all facets of bookkeeping easy.

Textbook is required and available in the college bookstore. 4.8 CEU. Cost:$750

American Payroll Association's PayTrain College and University Program

In cooperation with the American Payroll Association, we proudly offer The PayTrain College & University® program. Designed to increase your knowledge of payroll compliance from a basic understanding to an advanced level, the program prepares you for the Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) and Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification exams.

To qualify for CPP certification, candidates must have earned three years of payroll experience in the five years prior to taking the exam.

PayTrain Fundamentals - Returning soon!

PayTrain Fundamentals teaches the fundamental payroll calculations and applications necessary for
individuals who are new to the payroll industry as well as those who support the payroll industry and are
preparing for the FPC or CPP certification examinations. This course will provide you with the basic
knowledge and skills required to maintain payroll compliance and prevent costly penalties. These
calculations are critical to successfully passing the FPC and CPP exams and are not covered in PayTrain
Mastery.

PayTrain Mastery is a comprehensive course providing payroll managers and supervisors with solid understanding of advanced topics. Those enrolled receive live classroom instruction, textbooks and access to interactive online resources to reinforce topics learned.

• Payroll Tax Reporting
• Fair Labor Standards
