Aqua-Fit Workout

*Note: The Senior Citizen Policy does not apply to these classes.

Come start your day in the heated pool with an invigorating head to toe workout to music. This class includes aerobics, core work, and weight training. It is low impact, strengthens the muscular skeletal, system, and helps improve posture, balance, and endurance. There is no swimming during these classes. Pool shoes are recommended. To register, participants must choose and pay for the number of sessions (three, two, or one) they will attend each week.

E-Z Aqua Exercise

Begin your fitness lifestyle with a moderate workout in the heated pool set to music. This class targets endurance, muscular strength, range of motion and balance with low impact on joints. H20 Fitness

This class is held in the college’s heated pool. You will be working out in shallow and deep water to music. The goal of this class is to build strength, flexibility, cardio endurance, balance, and overall well-being. There is no swimming during these classes. Pool shoes are strongly recommended.

Adult Beginners Swim

Adult non-swimmers will learn the front crawl, back crawl, elementary backstroke, underwater swimming, and rhythmic breathing. Elementary diving and treading water will be introduced.

Adult Intermediate Swim

Intermediate Swim is geared to adults who can swim 5-10 yards on their front and back and who want to continue their progress in swimming. Review and improve swim strokes (freestyle, elementary backstroke, and back crawl) with practice and drills. Breaststroke, sidestroke, and open turns are introduced. Treading water, rhythmic breathing, entering deep water and elementary diving will be included.

Adult Advanced Swim

Advanced Swim is for those familiar with swim strokes and who want to improve swimming and diving skills. Focus on swimming endurance, swim techniques, and flip turns while being introduced to sidestroke and butterfly. Swimming drills will be performed to improve strokes as well as starts. A variety of dives from the side of the pool, blocks, and board will be taught.

Teen Swim

First Dip

Requirements: Swim diapers are mandatory for children not potty trained. 

Now parents, grandparents or other adults can accompany their child in their first experiences in the water. This is a fun and interactive experience for both baby and adult. Familiarize baby with the water and wet faces while having fun together.

Kids Swim Program (Ages 5-12)

Please note: Occasionally, the pool must be closed for emergencies or mandatory repairs. Due to pool demand, we may be unable to reschedule cancelled sessions.

  • Newly registered students must attend an in-water screening session for assignment to the appropriate class level in the American Red Cross Progressive Swimming Sequence (see below for screening date).
  • Registration must be completed prior to the screening session.
  • Parents are notified by e-mail of class assignments (time and class level) before the first class.
  • Classes meet for 50 minutes on ten (10) Saturdays between the hours of 8:00 am and 12:00 pm. Please ensure your child is available between those hours. The instructor assigns class times based on skill level screening; therefore, we cannot accommodate specific time slot requests.
  • Please note: If you register and are unable to make the screening, there are no refunds.

Preschool Swim Program (Ages 3-5)

This program teaches preschoolers the swimming skills that could save their lives and focuses on improving those skills to build competent swimmers. Enrollment is limited. Preschoolers in this program learn to swim with their faces submerged. Parents are advised to observe the program prior to enrolling to make sure it is appropriate for their children. No refunds are given after the course begins.

Preschool age children are taught basic aquatic safety and swimming skills while increasing their comfort level in and around the water. Skills are age-appropriate, helping children achieve success on a regular basis while enjoying social interactions with other children. As in all Swimming and Water Safety courses, your child will always know that safety comes first.

Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (Ages 16+)

Prerequisites: Minimum age of 16. Demonstrate swimming skills consistent with the Stroke Per­formance Charts, Level 4.

If you are at least 16 years old and a proficient swimmer, you can become an American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor. This course will help you learn how to teach others the skills that may save a life! As a Red Cross Water Safety Instructor, you can gain valuable work experi­ence as an aquatic professional, earn money, or join a volunteer team while you help people learn valuable skills. In this class, you will learn organizational and presentation skills that will help you both in and out of the pool. Whether you want to splash around with kids and teach them to swim, help children and adults refine their strokes or teach diving safety techniques, you can do it as an American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor.
