Advanced Imaging Program (CT & MRI)

Mercer County Community College Continuing Studies Department is offering ASRT approved didactic course hours and allotted clinical experience to prepare for the ARRT credentialing exam in the areas of Magnetic Resonance (MRI) and Computed Tomography (CT) programs. The program is approved for 42 Continuing Education Credits by the ASRT. 

Classes start in Fall 2019. Enrollment will open in the summer months.

Magnetic Resonance (MRI) Program

Prerequisite Requirements: Prospective interns must hold ARRT primary certification in Radiography, Nuclear Medicine, Radiation Therapy, or Sonography

Mercer County Community College Continuing Studies Department will offer ASRT approved didactic course hours and allotted clinical experience to prepare for the ARRT credentialing exam. The program is approved for 42 Continuing Education Credits by the ASRT.

Didactic: This course is made up of 42 hours of classroom learning which includes instructional videos and demonstrations. Online quizzes and exams will be administered. Topics covered include magnetism, nuclear magnetism, nuclear excitation, nuclear relaxation, MRI hardware, safety, timing diagrams, pulse sequences, image formation, anatomy, imaging procedures and techniques.

 

Clinical: Students have a six-month period in which to complete 125 repetitions as required by the ARRT to become eligible to sit for the credentialing exam. Clinical component begins two to three weeks after didactic component begins. Please refer to www.arrt.org for the required procedure. Students are required to commit to at least 16 hours per week in order to complete the required studies. Students will be assigned to their clinical education sites by the program’s clinical coordinator.

Computed Tomography (CT) Program

Prerequisite Requirements: Prospective interns must hold ARRT primary certification in Radiography, Nuclear Medicine, Radiation Therapy, or Sonography

Mercer County Community College Continuing Studies Department will offer ASRT approved didactic course hours and allotted clinical experience to prepare for the ARRT credentialing exam. The program is approved for 42 Continuing Education Credits by the ASRT.

Didactic: This course is made up of 42 hours of classroom learning which includes instructional videos and demonstrations. Online quizzes and exams will be administered. Topics include physical principals, instrumentation, indications for procedures, patient education and prep, orientation and positioning, contrast media usage and selectable scan parameters for various anatomical parts.

 

Clinical: Students have a five-month period in which to complete 125 repetitions as required by the ARRT to become eligible to sit for the credentialing exam.
